So you’ve got your hands on the world’s best cryptocurrency debit card. Well… congratulations! The Crypterium Card is the simplest way to spend digital currencies for everyday purchases, both online and in retail stores all over the globe.
Before you can use the Crypterium Card, you need to activate it. For security reasons, both the plastic and virtual Crypterium Card versions come without a pre-set PIN code.
Unlike traditional bank cards, which require to visit an ATM to change your PIN, you can fully manage your Crypterium Card from the wallet. From activation to PIN changing, blocking and topping up, it’s all done in only a few taps.
What Is A PIN Code?
A personal identification number (PIN) is a unique security code used to verify your identity when processing certain monetary transactions, such as purchases, transfers and withdrawals.
A PIN must be kept secret, since it gives access to your accounts, assets and personal information. Each payment card has a PIN code linked it. Bank cards will typically come with a pre-set PIN code so that you can use them straight away. While this might seem comfortable, it isn’t the safest practice. The Crypterium Card, for example, requires you to set a PIN from scratch. One that only you can create through the Crypterium Wallet.
4 Easy Ways To Create A Secure PIN Code
Creating a PIN number that’s both easy to remember and difficult to crack can be challenging. By default, we all tend to set PIN codes that relate at some level with our lives. But using your birthday or residence address increases your exposure to risk. So, if you’re wondering how to set a strong PIN code for your card, here are 5 easy strategies to follow:
Strategy #1 — Turn A Word Into Numbers
Before enjoying the convenience of full keyboards on our smartphones, telephone pads included a series of letters for each number. That way, you could rapidly turn a word into a number. With this concept in mind, you could turn a secret word into a PIN code.
If you want to set a six-digit PIN code, you could opt for the word ACTIVE, which would convert to the PIN 228483 (the A is on the 2, as well as the C; the T is on the 8; the I is on the 4; the V is on the 8; and the E is on the 3).
Strategy #2 — Not-Your-Birthday Date
Naturally, dates might seem like the perfect way to go for a PIN code. Yet, if dates are related to you, hackers could find a way around to crack it. So, the best way is to find a random date that has a certain meaning or importance to you but isn’t particularly related to your life.
Strategy #3 — A Phone You’ll Never Forget
Your high-school best friend, your grandma, or the pizza delivery… some phone numbers simply stick to us for our entire lives. Well, there’s a way to use those for more than just dialing.
Pick some easy-to-remember part of the number and use it as a PIN code. As this number relates to a person you know, it would be really easy to remember. And even if you don’t remember the exact PIN code, you’ll only need to refer to your contact book to find it.
Strategy #4 — Your Imaginary Friend
Following the case above, an alternative is to create a fake contact on your phone book and set a phone number that will include the PIN code. For example, you could create a contact and set the phone number as 333-212-0405, with 0405 being your PIN code.
Crypterium Card Activation
Launch the Crypterium Wallet on your iOS or Android device and go to the ‘Card’ section. You can find it at the bottom of your screen next to ‘Dashboard’.

If your card is already available, you should see the numbers and expiration date on the preview screen. Click on ‘Activate card’ to start the process.

Select a security question of your choice from the drop down list and enter the answer. We will use this information in case you forget your PIN code later on. Make sure only you know the answer to the chosen question and it isn’t an easy guess for thieves. Press ‘Continue’.

Since your PIN code will be used to purchase and withdraw funds from your Crypterium Card, it’s important we verify your identity before setting a PIN code.
To ensure we’re dealing with the right person — you — we will send a unique six-digit security code to your linked email address and phone number. Enter it to proceed.

Finally, you can choose a six-digit PIN code for your Crypterium Card. As a general recommendation, stay away from simple sequences like “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.” Instead, opt for random combination that only make sense to you.
That’s it. Once you’ve entered the code, our team will revise your PIN request and notify you via email as soon as the code is ready to be used.
How To Reset A PIN Code
Forgetting your PIN code can be a real pain, especially if you’re still dealing with outdated banks. In most cases, you’re still required to visit a bank branch or ATM to reset your code.
With the Crypterium Card, all you have to do is launch the wallet on your device, go to the ‘Card’ section and press on the ‘PIN’ button. After a quick verification, you’ll be able to set a new PIN code and be ready to spend in only minutes.
