Today is the first of April. That means two things. One is that you can finally leave your heavy coat in the wardrobe as Spring finally gains traction. The other is that Crypterium mdash; the world’s first cryptobank mdash; is going to join forces with Netflix to produce a 10-episode documentary series exploring the cryptocurrency landscape. Yes, you read it right.
Despite the bearish market, the number of cryptocurrency holders continues to increase in a sustainable and promising way. However, there is a long way to go when it comes to mass adoption. According to a recent report by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), 73% of British consumers doesn’t know what a cryptocurrency is. Crypterium’s partnership with Netflix is aligned with our main goal: bridging crypto and traditional finance. A goal that calls for quality content able to bust myths and even educate on digital assets.
“Netflix continues investing in great entertainment. We’ve seen a recent spike in searches on cryptocurrencies and, to date, there is not enough quality material on the matter,” said a Netflix spokesperson justifying the company’s decision to develop this documentary. “We needed a partner who knows the space, and Crypterium was ready to help us.”
On Crypterium’s side, the partnership with Netflix was described as “a vital step to all crypto-related companies to ensure that people understand the real potential of digital assets, leaving aside mainstream criticism and rumors.”
From their mysterious origins to the crazy market volatility and the increasing institutional interest, the series titled “IT’s time” is expected to provide viewers with a comprehensive picture of the digital assets economy.
The entertainment giant has appointed Jacob Kornbluh as Director. His first documentary on Netflix was released in 2017 under the name “Saving Capitalism“. Kornbluh shared on Twitter:
“I am very excited to join this production. Nowadays, everyone talks about cryptocurrencies, but it is still very hard to understand for the lsquo;average joe’. By partnering with a market leader as Crypterium we expect to offer nearly 150 million subscribers a good understanding of what crypto really is and why is it relevant in today’s world.”
For this crypto-related series, Netflix has decided to move forward with a non-conventional format of 15-minute episodes. Such format has been used for other documentary productions, for example, one developed in partnership with BuzzFeed.
While it is early to say, Netflix is expected to release the series during the first half of 2020. According to entertainment company, the series will start streaming on its service in the United States first and then become available to European subscribers.
To learn more details about our partnership with Netflix, don’t miss Steven Parker’s livestream this Wednesday, April 3rd at 17:30 GMT.
