As we navigate the modern world of finance, security, and convenience in our transactions have never been more important. With these values in mind, it's our duty to inform you of a significant update that will affect your current payment methods and enhance your overall user experience.
The Dawn of Enhanced Security with 3DS-Compliant Cards
At the heart of our latest update is the transition to 3DS-compliant cards. This move is not just a step but a leap forward in securing your financial activities. The 3DSecure (3DS) protocol is a cornerstone of modern digital payment security, providing an additional layer of authentication that thwarts unauthorized usage and protects sensitive data.
Discontinuation Notice for Current Visa Cards
It is important to mark your calendars: April 1, 2024, will be the last day your current Visa card will remain active. Our card provider, Walletto, has decided to deactivate non-3DS 2.2 compliant cards to comply with the newest and most stringent security protocols.
What You Need to Do Before Your Card is Deactivated
Don't wait until the last minute! Here's what you can do before your card is deactivated:
-
Make Purchases: Use up your remaining balance by making transactions. This applies to both virtual and plastic cards.
-
Withdraw Funds: If you're using a plastic card, you can withdraw your funds from any ATM.
-
Transfer to Crypto: Use the 'Top up' function in the Choise.com app to convert your fiat card balance to cryptocurrency. This option is available for both card types.
New Card Issuance on the Horizon
Rest assured, you won't be left cardless. A new, secure card that meets all the latest security requirements will be issued to you. For our European customers, the issuance and delivery will be covered at our expense. Keep an eye out for detailed information on how to receive your new card. We understand that change can sometimes be inconvenient, which is why we are taking measures to ensure a smooth transition.
What is 3DSecure 2.2
The 3DSecure 2.2 Standard is the latest iteration of the 3D Secure authentication protocol designed to enhance online transaction security. Building on its predecessor, 3DS 2.1, this standard introduces improved features for fraud prevention and a better user experience during card-not-present (CNP) transactions. It supports the European Union's Revised Directive on Payment Services (PSD2) requirements for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), providing a more seamless checkout process while ensuring compliance. Key enhancements include better integration with mobile and app-based transactions, support for biometric authentication methods, and the ability to exchange more data between merchants, cardholders, and issuers, which helps in making more informed decisions on transaction risk. This results in fewer declines of legitimate transactions and reduced cart abandonment, making it a critical update for e-commerce security and efficiency.
